Artists and craftspeople making a differencE

What’s happening at Art4Action?

The art revolution continues!

I find it amazing to think that it’s now over a year since we came up with the idea of the first Art4Action auction to try and raise some money for those who had been effected by COVID-19. I certainly wouldn’t have thought that 14 months later we would still be in the middle of this dreadful pandemic, and that we’d still be trying to raise money because of it.

Let’s hope that it’s not too much longer before EVERYONE in the world can get a vaccine jab.

However, in the past months, apart from trying to raise funds for COVID related charities like the Dorset Coronavirus Community Appeal and Frontline19, we have (or are still trying to) raise funds for other charities and good causes we feel need support. These include the Routes to Roots homeless charity in Poole and the Purbeck Youth and Community Foundation

So now, after two successful live auctions and a new online Art and Maker’s market launched, we thought we should bring you up to date with what is happening. It seems that we have indeed started a bit of a revolution !

First, a big thanks...

Goes to all the artists and makers who have joined the Art4Action family. We have been bowled over by all the positive comments we have received. And of course without them Art4Action couldn’t exist!

For charity

We are pleased that during this last year more than £14,000 worth of art has been sold with over £5000 donated to our chosen charities.

Online Arts and Crafts Market

The shop we launched on our website last month is proving popular, and we’ll be adding to the arts and crafts listed over the next few months.

We also recently introduced a new feature on it called ‘Suggested Price’. This gives customers the option to either pay the minimum price, or to add a bit more if they want to support the artist and charities!

Social Media

If you’re reading this, then you know the power of social media! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for news about our online market and auctions, etc.

£215 raised at our mini-online auction

Local artist Ed Marriott recently donated 3 paintings to our charities. So we developed a new online auction option on our website.

We’ll be looking to create these ‘mini auctions’ as a regular online event in the future.

Next online auction, plus our first local exhibition!

We are hoping to put on our first Art & Craft Exhibition in Wareham this summer, followed by another big online auction. More details to follow soon!

After these events we will be making a cheque presentation to our charities (Purbeck Youth and Community Foundation and Frontline 19) with the total from the auctions and online shop sales. Below is a collage showing the recipients of our last two presentations!
