Fiona Kelly: My Biog
Fiona has been making pots for over 40 years. Trained at evening classes and a one-year course at Goldsmiths’ College, London (1981-2) potting took a back seat while working in tourism and construction and the births of four daughters, but she was gradually able to dedicate more time to this passion, selling widely at fairs and galleries in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.
Having sold at galleries in Wareham since the 90’s the opportunity arose to take over the Creative Gallery in St John’s Hill, Wareham in 2013 – the Gallery is now run as a co-operative of eight makers, who take turns to look after sales, allowing Fiona to spend more time in her workshop. There is a programme of guest makers, with monthly changing exhibitions.
Clay is a quite magical material – turning the soft material into a functional piece of stoneware pottery is a endlessly fascinating.
